WAR AND PEACE by Sallow WAR AND PEACE by Sallow
I like scale, I like blending our perception of scale. Playing with that fear of seeing something so vast , so dangerous , so erie that all hope is replaced with dispair.

I first created a much larger scene , 5 sky creatures ( a1 300dpi ) but felt this cropped down version flowed better.
Time to complete ( the large original ) 8 hours.
Hope you enjoy,
Heres the original

I like the way you think I love scale as well but you can pull trigger and fire it.

I know this comment will probably just get lost in all the other ones but Im trully Impressed with your ability to give each scene you create a very normalcy killing post apocalyptic atmosphere . I love the larger onebecause it lets you take in the full account of it. Very well done

Magnificant. imaginative and inspiring. Did you do this in Photoshop (paint and stock) or did you do it the old fashioned way?

I love post-apocalyptic art and writing, but it's incredibly hard to find work of this caliber, not only for the execution, but for the concept.

A lot of "scifi" art shows soldiers in futuristic cities, interesting but not striking, nothing that reaches a hand down your throat and grabs hold of your lungs and squeezes, like this. This is so unique, so visceral, that you could fall through the screen into that world.

I recently decided to try my hand at photomanips, and thus far confess to having cranked out material that's pretty standard. What's in my head is a lot darker & more complex, though, and I've been surfing all over DA looking for things (especially digital paintings) that I can study so I can figure out how to capture the ideas. And also for things that light a fire under me. So thank you for defying monotony and mundanity!

I am tending to stay away from digital manips these days as I find them all quite samey.. Seems with every subsequent version of photoshop released it gets easier to churn out a bog standard manip... So I only tend to go for digital paintings or manips which are a class above...

This is absolutely gorgeous!!! I bloody love it!!! Technically its fantastic...!

I completely agree and thats a very good point about each release of photoshop making it easier to do standard manips. I've been using my own teqniques since photoshop 5, havent changed a great deal. I use lots of photos as detail but think for an image to work its imperative that u dont use a photo image then manipulate it. Create the image in your head via paint , pencil, digital paint whatever than u tweak, manip ect. Stops the photo determining your vision rather than enhancing it.

Thats the best way to use it I think... You've been using it sonce it could do pretty much bugger all so its a lot more "manual"... Which means better results and more skill involved!!! Yeah you're right about the way to start off as well.. Its all to easy to tweak existing images but you obviously treat it as more of an art form... Escellent!

btw I looked at the bigger version.. That would be STUNNING blown up to about 30"x20" and in a frame!!!!
